Rudolph de Wet - Head of Production at OV&P

Our Team is Growing

Warm welcome to our new Head of Production, Rudolph de Wet! He brings valuable skills, expertise and experience to OV&P, spanning a range of genres and incorporating photography, videography, film making and editing. We took the above pic of him at the visionary Devonbosch development near Stellenbosch, where our studio is based.

As you can see, he’s geared to shoot with one of our Nikon cameras mounted on the DJI Ronin gimbal, which is a special piece of tech, particularly for capturing action footage and subjects like event content and real estate walk-throughs, super smoothly. Rudolph lives life to the full, embracing new opportunities along the way. He started out studying health and safety and going overseas. In the USA, he found himself in the position to assist in a big film production doing the work and research, and knew this was for him.

He studied a year of photography, then two years of film, TV and video production, before establishing his career as a photographer, videographer and editor. Rudolph weaves his unique and creative style into each frame, whether behind the lens capturing breathtaking moments or immersed at his editing desk. He thrives on bringing visions to life and had an absolute blast working with TV series and talented singers, among other exciting things.

The diversity of his projects has allowed Rudolph to refine his skills across various genres and styles. From capturing the raw emotions on set to adding that magical touch in post-production, he’s always wholeheartedly dedicated to delivering top-notch results. He loves venturing into new creative territories and collaborating with individuals from various industries. Every project brings fresh inspiration and opportunities to push boundaries.

Aside from work, Rudolph finds solace in outdoor adventures, especially mountain biking. We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to plenty of great shoots and adventures together!

Dave Estment - Photography & Videography Training

Opportunities to Upskill

As we step into the second half of 2021, how satisfied do you feel with your personal and business progress this year? One of the keys to achieving this is to develop your own or your team’s skills, especially as these apply to current circumstances. We can likely agree that the economic fallout from COVID has added pressure for personal and business brands to differentiate themselves, especially online. This includes showing up effectively in your on-screen meetings as well as sharing high quality photo and video content.

We’ve been responding to requests for assistance with this, and we’d love to help you too. Drawing on our 20 years of professional experience, we offer individual and/or group training, in person or online. Opportunities for you or your team to upskill include photography and videography courses and Zoom setup support sessions that cover all the aspects required to achieve great results, tailored to your personal or professional needs. Above is a screen grab from a Zoom training session that Dave was giving for our wonderful clients Tim & Yvonne Driman, and here is the testimonial that Tim shared afterwards, with our sincere thanks!

My wife Yvonne and I have just completed an awesome online Zoom course on video with Dave and Naomi Estment of Outdoor Video & Photographic. Yvonne has been shooting video and I have been shooting stills since the late 1990’s, but I needed to learn how to shoot video, as Yvonne needed to gauge her progress, and also to learn how to shoot as a team. It was a lot simpler than I had envisioned, and I learned so much more than I had even anticipated. The course has certainly opened both our eyes to the vastness and intricacies of shooting video, and we enjoyed every moment of it. We are both really excited to put this new knowledge to the test, out in the field. Would I recommend this to other people? Absolutely, without a doubt.” – Tim Driman, https://timdrimanphotography.co.za, Ballito – KwaZulu Natal (South Africa)

Contact us today if you’d like to find out more or discuss your own learning requirements. It will be our pleasure to support your success in representing yourself and your business in the most impactful and resonant way with your followers and clients.

Wishing you an outstanding second half of 2021!

Outdoor Video & Photographic Team

20 Years in Business!

Today we’re celebrating being in business here at Outdoor Video & Photographic for two decades! What a phenomenal journey it’s been, including more adventures and highlights than we could possible summarise in this post. Huge THANK YOU to every one of our team, clients, associates, suppliers, family, friends and followers for all that you’ve contributed along the way!

Special mention to Dave’s daughter Terri-Lee, pictured with us above, who was the original inspiration to launch the studio side of our business, and to Dave’s son Michael for his expert creative input over the years. It was a wonderful, full-circle moment for Naomi to recently photograph Terri’s daughter Mykaela, who we can hardly believe is already fourteen, in our studio:

If you know a teenager who would enjoy a beautiful confidence boost, we’d love to help. And also if you’re an aspiring photographer or videographer who wants to fast track to being a passionate, capable amateur or a budding professional. Dave has spent 40 years honing his craft and has decided that this is a great time to start sharing his experience and knowledge!

Here’s an introduction to the brand new series of tutorials that he’s putting together, each addressing a different element to assist aspiring photographers and videographers to raise their game and for the few who really apply themselves, to start their own business in the industry. Take a look and be inspired to join him here on our blog and our YouTube channel:

Dave will be giving away gems of insight and experience about technique, technical challenges and shortcuts as time moves on, but they say it’s not clever to give everything away because the recipient doesn’t appreciate and utilise the product as they may if they invest in it. So, we won’t be giving Dave’s courses away, but will make them affordable and extremely good value.

Please let us know if there’s any particular aspect of photography and/or videography that you’d love to learn about, from studio to wildlife, ground and aerial, and everything in between. We welcome any positive, constructive comment or input and hope that this content becomes a go to source of inspiration and information in our exciting world of photography and videography!
