There is something to say for teamwork, especially when the pressure is on. It can be hard to find a winning team who just “click” and deliver, and when you have that, you have a seriously winning formula. I keep seeing this in our OV&P team members who do the “crouch, touch, pause, engage” equivalent of a top rugby team heading into a scrum. We also witness it in our client’s teams, particularly during major events that we capture on their behalf.

For example, we have recently been privileged to film and photograph two phenomenal functions for Pennylane Conferences and Events. Charlotte du Plessis (pictured above, second from left) and her team provide superb event management services that range from gala functions for leading organizations to exclusive private parties – all featuring their signature professionalism, expertise and warmth. Each of the recent events we covered for them centered on a significant awards ceremony with VIP presenters, superb entertainment and dinner for over 600 guests.

Our team’s job in terms of professional event coverage involves all of the important planning and preparation beforehand, as well as at the venue, where we set up our respective gear, do sound checks and liaise with our client’s team on final requirements. Despite our load of equipment, we each know where to find it and what to do. Then it’s lights, cameras and action, with each person laser focused on their job at hand. Such is the power of teamwork.

The dynamic Pennylane team is a force to be reckoned with. Guests get to see the glamorous side of completed events but are seldom aware of what takes place behind the scenes in terms of preparation, organizing and the late nights involved beforehand. That unique touch of niche expertise from both teams in the case of these events, enabled us at OV&P to create the final memorable experience via videos and photographs for the client to keep and share in turn with their guests.
