Does being in front of a camera make you nervous? And for that matter, branching out with a new business idea? I’ve recently been in a position to experience both, in preparation for the workshops that I helped Naomi host at the Woman of Substance Health & Wellness Expo at the Good Vibrations Health Sanctuary in Rivonia, Johannesburg. These workshops address confidence on camera for photos and videos, serving the visionary but camera-shy woman who wants to up-level her visual portfolio and effectively promote her company or career through these mediums.
In preparation, we planned a studio shoot to combine a range of sample poses to assist participants in bringing out their best in front of the lens. And I got to be the one in front of it! Despite my initial anxiety, Naomi’s direction and eye for detail to help me look my best in each photo was phenomenal. The best part is that you see your photo’s on screen immediately because the camera and computer are connected in studio, and not to mention the fun!
If you haven’t experienced a professional photo shoot like this, I highly recommend that you take a similar leap of faith, for the personal and professional benefits that it offers. It was wonderful to walk away with a new level of confidence and contentment, as well as lovely photos, and to share this experience at the Expo too. What was really rewarding for us was the input and feedback from the ladies who attended. We gained valuable perspective and insight to help us ensure that our workshops going forward will leave these beautiful women with that sense of empowerment in front of the camera.
Our objectives are aligned with the vision of the Woman of Substance (WOS) organisation, which is committed to empowering women and positively impacting the lives of others through its actions. This focus was supported by the group of exhibitors at the expo, including workshops with health & wellness specialists as well as professional speakers. All of this contributed to a truly inspiring day for participants and visitors.
