Happy Rescue Pup Playing in a Park

Fun Pet Videos

On a lighter than usual note, let’s explore some of the aspects that can contribute to fun pet videos, starting with playful pets! If you’re anything like us, you’re quite possibly a dog lover, who appreciates how instinctively they live in the moment and enjoy life to the full. Storm (our Golden Retriever) and Sky (our rescue pup) take this to the next level at our favourite local park.

It’s expansive and beautiful, including open grassy fields, shade-dappled forest sections, a sparkling river and irresistible dams. Well, to Storm especially. He adores playing in water, not to mention any mud puddle that crosses his path, no matter how shallow and the messier the better! We plan our walk, or run in their case, to reach a big dam near the end of it, so that he can splash into the deep water and get a good wash before leaping into the back of our car. Sky is more circumspect, following his older brother a bit more cautiously, but always having his ears perked high with curiosity and eagerness to share in Storm’s unbridled joy.

Capturing this exuberant energy is the key to shooting fun pet videos, which can be made more interesting for your friends and followers when you also feature here and there in the footage, as I do in the above video, interacting with our dogs. Adding a light-hearted, royalty-free music track can add to the fun factor, together with editing your footage into a creative series of short, varied clips that alternate wider positioning shots with tighter ones where your pet is zoomed in close to the camera.

It’s worth setting up your shots for best effect, as Dave and I did by collaborating on the fly. I called our boys to me and held them for a few seconds while Dave got the GoPro camera ready. Then I let them go as he called them to him, resulting in the clips you can see above where they charged straight for the camera and then swerved past it at the last moment. What obliging little stars!

This took a minimal amount of time to shoot, edit and format to a practical size, in the natural course of a laid-back Sunday. It was super fun to share with family and friends via WhatsApp and social media. Few things in life bring smiles to our faces as swiftly as seeing pets having a blast being themselves. We humans can learn a whole lot from them, don’t you think?

If you’d like to lean more about shooting your own pet videos, feel free to post a question in the comments below 😀

Dave & Naomi Estment - Dec 2018

New Year & Birthday Celebrations

Happy New Year from us and ours to you and yours! May 2019 bring all you wish for and more. In addition to a freshly clean slate to explore new adventures, we celebrate something specific in January. It’s the anniversary month of founding our business and this month Outdoor Video & Photographic turns 18 years old. Cheers to voting and drinking rights!

We’re especially grateful to have wrapped up 2018 and started 2019 with wildlife photo and video shoots on magnificent game farms. If you’ve followed our blog, you’ll likely know that Dave and I share a particular passion for this, and perhaps also that it’s one of the main genres that motivated us to launch OV&P and to keep infusing pleasure and fun into our lives by doing what we love and loving what we do. Here’s a sneak peek into some of the exceptional wildlife photos that Dave has enjoyed shooting recently:

Over the years, our OV&P work has aligned more strongly with our extensive corporate experience and we specialise in helping blue chip organisations and entrepreneurial businesses maximise the power of their marketing via expert ground and aerial photography and videography. Dave’s technical skills and mechanical engineering background combine with his passion for leading edge technology to keep Outdoor Video & Photographic at the forefront of aerial drone photography and videography advancements.

This led to some significant corporate and commercial projects in 2018 that commanded much of Dave’s focus and expertise, including epic ground, aerial and time lapse photos and footage. My primary goal for 2018 was to create and publish the video-based content for my suite of 7 transformational online courses. That included maintaining my award winning blog at www.naomiestment.com and taking a sabbatical from this award winning OV&P blog for most of 2018 – in case you’ve noticed it’s been quiet around here 😉

My courses are geared to help visionary women entrepreneurs boost their online presence via brilliant personal branding photos and videos. They contribute a brand new dimension to the products and services that we offer. If you’d like a juicy taste, sign up for my free course at www.courses.naomiestment.com. Also, stay tuned for fresh blog content coming your way here to share insight and inspiration about how pro photography and videography can benefit you and your business in 2019!

Naomi Estment, 2017 SA Best Photographic Blog Winner

SA Best Photographic Blog

Further to my previous post, I’m SO grateful to have won the 2017 SA Best Photographic Blog award for my site naomiestment.com, on the heels of our years of blogging here at ovpimaging.com. You may be aware that this website won SA Best Photographic Blog in 2014, and was runner-up to Orms (“The Best Online Camera Store in South Africa”) in 2015 and 2016.

Since Dave and I decided at the beginning of last year to focus more fully on the practical aspects of our corporate and commercial business here at Outdoor Video & Photographic, while I’ve been expanding the online side of my business Naomi Estment International, it made sense to focus my blogging energy at naomiestment.com. Watch that space, as I’ll also soon be launching my online programs there to help visionary but camera-shy entrepreneurs and executives to boost their confidence on camera, optimise their personal branding photo and video shoots, and leverage these via effective visual marketing.

In the meantime, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who voted for me, especially the judges and all of you who inspire the content I share. Special thanks and shout out to the 2017 SA Blog Awards team and congrats to the other winners. It’s a particular honour to win the photographic category, being in the company of exceptional runners-up, namely Outdoor Photo (“Biggest camera shop in SA”) and Africa Far and Wide (“A visual journey into the Africa I know”), both of which feature brilliant content and beautiful images.

I also want to thank my phenomenal online mentor Marie Forleo for my scholarship to her B-School 2016, which has been a game-changer for my website, online platform and business, contributing to this award. Thanks a million Marie! If you’re looking for the best guidance available to launch and grow your online business, follow Marie and sign up for her B-School.

Big thanks also to Bernard van Rensburg of Up-Next Digital for his fantastic and tireless work in revamping my website, as he did for us on this website too . . . and last but FAR from least, HUGE thanks to Dave for supporting me every moment of every day, and for maintaining his energy and focus here at Outdoor Video & Photographic. We look forward to continuing to provide the best content we can to help you maximise the power of your marketing via expert photos and videos.
