Dave & Naomi Estment on a Filming Project

Year in Review

Wow, it’s been a weird year, and how quickly it’s come and gone! Given our collective global challenges, we are especially grateful to all of our wonderful clients, associates, suppliers, family and friends for your support. THANK YOU!

It’s been so fulfilling to have inspiring work to co-create, including online education content, individual and business promotional videos, aerial and time lapse photos and videos (we were capturing an extensive solar installation on a warehouse roof in the pic above), personal branding and modelling portfolios, and even coverage of some special live events.

Another highlight has been teaching photography and videography online and in person. Dave has also been innovating in our studio, in between us hiring it out, combining creativity and tech to showcase products, as you can see here:

We’ve also had amazing trips with our cameras in hand, from the magnificent flowers in Namaqualand to the breath-taking bushveld at Welgevonden game reserve, where Dave went with his brother Mike, and shot this short video:

Be sure to watch if you love nature and wildlife, and don’t miss the exceptional footage of a Lilac Breasted Roller flitting in and out of its nest in a tree, or the majesty of lions, elephants and other game that never fails to stir the soul.

When you click to watch these videos on our Outdoor Video & Photographic YouTube channel and participate in our thousands of monthly views, then subscribe while you’re there so that you’re first in line to see our upcoming content as it’s published.

And contact us if you have personal or professional photography or videography requirements. We’d love to help. In the meantime, we wish you a wonderful Festive Season and New Year! May 2022 bring you abundant fulfilment, happiness and success.

Outdoor Video & Photographic Team

20 Years in Business!

Today we’re celebrating being in business here at Outdoor Video & Photographic for two decades! What a phenomenal journey it’s been, including more adventures and highlights than we could possible summarise in this post. Huge THANK YOU to every one of our team, clients, associates, suppliers, family, friends and followers for all that you’ve contributed along the way!

Special mention to Dave’s daughter Terri-Lee, pictured with us above, who was the original inspiration to launch the studio side of our business, and to Dave’s son Michael for his expert creative input over the years. It was a wonderful, full-circle moment for Naomi to recently photograph Terri’s daughter Mykaela, who we can hardly believe is already fourteen, in our studio:

If you know a teenager who would enjoy a beautiful confidence boost, we’d love to help. And also if you’re an aspiring photographer or videographer who wants to fast track to being a passionate, capable amateur or a budding professional. Dave has spent 40 years honing his craft and has decided that this is a great time to start sharing his experience and knowledge!

Here’s an introduction to the brand new series of tutorials that he’s putting together, each addressing a different element to assist aspiring photographers and videographers to raise their game and for the few who really apply themselves, to start their own business in the industry. Take a look and be inspired to join him here on our blog and our YouTube channel:

Dave will be giving away gems of insight and experience about technique, technical challenges and shortcuts as time moves on, but they say it’s not clever to give everything away because the recipient doesn’t appreciate and utilise the product as they may if they invest in it. So, we won’t be giving Dave’s courses away, but will make them affordable and extremely good value.

Please let us know if there’s any particular aspect of photography and/or videography that you’d love to learn about, from studio to wildlife, ground and aerial, and everything in between. We welcome any positive, constructive comment or input and hope that this content becomes a go to source of inspiration and information in our exciting world of photography and videography!

Wrapping up 2020

What a year this has been and how amazing to think that it’s almost behind us! We can likely agree that it’s been particularly challenging, including for businesses across the board. So, we’re especially grateful for each and every client, associate, supplier, family member and friend who has supported us and participated in our journey throughout 2020. Sincere thanks to you all!

Despite the significant impact of lockdown on our in-person photo and video shoots, as well as the knock-on effect of widespread budget cuts by many clients, we’ve been blessed with some inspiring work for special people. The creative fulfilment this brought us offered refreshing relief from the global focus on Covid-19, and we’re delighted to have contributed to their marketing campaigns. Above is a recent pic from our final climb onto a warehouse roof to retrieve the time lapse camera that had been faithfully capturing the contstruction of the new warehouse that you can see behind us, for our valued clients at Fortress REIT Limited.

Here’s another example of a project that we filmed and photographed for SA Paving, including capturing their wonderful team at work! This video combines ground and aerial photography and videography, which adds great perspectives for a more dynamic viewing experience, and helps to showcase the premium service that this industry leader has been delivering for over 40 years:

And here’s a super fun, Bond-inspired stop motion sequence that we created for Dimanzi perfume’s men’s fragrance, which Dave wears and we love! The theme incorporates vibrant gambling flair, complete with cards, chips and dice rolling out onto a black glass reflective surface for added impact and allure. Take a look for some fast-paced action and then click here to shop online for Christmas gifts in the form of gorgeous Dimanzi fragrances for men and women to treat that special person in your life!

Do you have any innovative plans for your marketing projects, perhaps to implement in 2021 so that you can start the year strong? We hope these two videos give you some fresh ideas and inspiration, and wish you every success as we move forward in collective recovery from 2020. In the meantime, Happy Holidays to you and yours, and may your festive season be richly blessed!
